  • Description / Clematis Bridgewater™

Clematis Bridgewater™ is a compact climbing vine that brings soft pink flowers to patios and smaller garden spaces. Star shaped blooms with red anthers appear from May through July, followed by another display in September. Flowers develop along the stems from the base to the tip, giving this full, bushy plant an abundant display across its height rather than only at the top.

Use this clematis in a container or patio planter, or place it toward the front or middle of a border. Give the stems a framework to climb, or let them grow through other plants. With a mature height of up to 4 feet, it offers a manageable scale for these settings. Medium green foliage complements the pink flowers and their contrasting centers.

Choose full sun to part shade, average moisture, and well drained soil in USDA Zones 5 through 9. This selection belongs to pruning group 3: cut all top growth back to 6 inches in late winter or early spring. That straightforward annual pruning supports a new season of growth. Successive buds along the stems and repeat flowering in September extend the appeal beyond the first summer display.
